AstraZeneca Paid $520 Million to Resolve Seroquel Off-Label Marketing Allegations

In April 2010, AstraZeneca agreed to pay $520 million to resolve U.S. civil allegations concerning the marketing of the antipsychotic drug Seroquel. The U.S. Department of Justice alleged that AstraZeneca illegally marketed Seroquel for uses that had not been approved as safe and effective by the FDA and that this conduct caused false claims to be submitted to federal healthcare programs including Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE.
