Ajinomoto agreed to plead guilty and pay $10 million for lysine price fixing

On August 27, 1996, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. signed a plea agreement and agreed to a $10 million criminal fine for participating in a global conspiracy to fix lysine prices and allocate sales. DOJ placed the conspiracy from June 1992 through June 27, 1995. The plea agreement remained subject to court approval at announcement; a later DOJ enforcement history records sentencing on March 8, 2000.
