Akzo Nobel N.V. Rotten Score Breakdown

The European Commission found that Akzo Nobel participated in an EEA-wide cartel involving calcium carbide and magnesium-based reagents between April 2004 and January 2007. Participants fixed prices, shared markets and allocated customers. Akzo Nobel was not fined because it revealed the cartel to the Commission and qualified for immunity under the EU leniency program. Immunity from the fine did not mean the company had not participated in the infringement.
