Banco Comercial Português, S.A. Rotten Score Breakdown

The Portuguese Competition Authority found that Banco Comercial Português and other banks engaged in a concerted practice of exchanging sensitive and confidential commercial information for more than a decade, from 2002 to 2013. The exchanged information concerned mortgage, consumer and corporate-credit products, including future spreads and recent lending volumes that would not otherwise have been available to competitors. In September 2019 the AdC imposed a EUR 60 million fine on Banco Comercial Português. The banking case has continued through extensive judicial appeals, including CJEU and Portuguese court proceedings through 2025, so this record is marked unresolved pending final closure.
