BlackBerry predecessor RIM settled SEC stock-option backdating allegations
On February 17, 2009, Research In Motion Limited, now BlackBerry Limited, settled a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission action alleging stock-option backdating and materially false or misleading disclosures covering 1998 through 2006. RIM consented to injunctive relief without admitting or denying the allegations. The SEC also described related settlements with individual executives and Ontario regulators; those individual amounts are not attributed here as a corporate penalty.
