Summary
On June 27, 2019, the European Commission fined Canon Inc. €28 million for partially implementing its acquisition of Toshiba Medical Systems before notifying and obtaining approval under EU merger rules. The Commission found that Canon used a two-step warehousing structure that contributed to the ultimate acquisition of control. On May 18, 2022, the EU General Court upheld the Commission decision in full.
