In June 2026 Romania's Competition Council sanctioned ten banks for infringing competition rules through coordinated behaviour during the ROBOR benchmark-setting process. The authority said banks exchanged confidential and strategic information, particularly regarding pricing, when submissions should have been determined independently. CEC Bank received a fine of about RON 332.98 million. CEC publicly rejected the decision and the ruling is subject to judicial challenge, so this record is marked unresolved.
