Energy Transfer Subsidiary Settled Pipeline-Safety Allegations Connected to Employee Death for $1.425 Million
In January 2026, Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. LP, a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Transfer LP, agreed to pay $1.425 million to resolve federal allegations that pipeline-safety violations contributed to the death of an employee. The Justice Department said the United States had filed a civil complaint in April 2025 alleging violations of federal pipeline-safety regulations connected with a March 2020 incident at the Borchers Station near Meade, Kansas. The complaint alleged failures to follow written operations and maintenance procedures in four areas. The settlement resolved the federal Pipeline Safety Act allegations.
