Eni S.p.A. Rotten Score Breakdown

On 26 September 2025, AGCM found that Eni and five other fuel suppliers coordinated the value of the bio-component included in motor-fuel prices from 1 January 2020 through 30 June 2023. AGCM imposed a €336,214,660 fine on Eni. This is an administrative competition-authority decision and should not be described as a criminal conviction; any later appeal can affect finality. On 15 January 2020, AGCM announced a €5 million fine against Eni S.p.A. for misleading advertising of Eni Diesel+. The authority found that environmental and emissions claims attributed characteristics of an HVO component to the fuel as a whole and that several claimed reductions were unsupported or insufficiently contextualized.
