Finnair prolonged statutory refund delays
Finland's Consumer Ombudsman took Finnair Oyj to the Market Court in April 2026 over widespread delays in refunding tickets for cancelled flights. EU rules require reimbursement within seven days when passengers choose a refund, but the Consumer Ombudsman reported that Finnair's refunds had repeatedly taken weeks and in some cases months, with problems continuing from 2024 into 2025. The Ombudsman seeks a prohibition backed by a EUR 300,000 conditional fine. Because the Market Court proceedings remain unresolved, this record is marked unresolved and does not treat the allegations as a final judicial finding.
