The rules restrict large grocery retailers from using land agreements that prevent competing supermarkets from opening nearby. The CMA said Sainsbury's breaches included restrictive covenants and exclusivity arrangements affecting stores in multiple locations across the UK. Sainsbury's reviewed its land agreements at the CMA's request and took steps to correct the breaches.
