On 17 November 2005, the French Competition Council fined La Poste €1 million after finding that it abused its dominant position through discriminatory pricing for bulk mail. The authority found that La Poste granted particularly favorable conditions to certain major senders and to its subsidiary Datapost, including conduct affecting Datapost from 1995 through 1999, while comparable intermediaries did not receive the same conditions.
