Korean privacy regulator fined LG Uplus KRW 6.8 billion for customer-data breach
The Korean Personal Information Protection Commission concluded that information concerning 297,117 LG Uplus customers had leaked and identified a vulnerable customer-authentication system. The regulator dated the suspected extraction to around June 2018 and imposed a KRW 6.8 billion fine, a KRW 27 million administrative penalty and corrective measures in July 2023.
