Marubeni Corporation

Marubeni Corporation pleaded guilty on March 19, 2014 to conspiracy and seven substantive FCPA counts, admitting that it and others paid bribes to Indonesian officials to secure a $118 million power contract. A federal court sentenced Marubeni on May 15, 2014 and imposed the agreed $88 million criminal fine. DOJ described a seven-year scheme and cited Marubeni's lack of timely remediation and refusal to cooperate when first given the opportunity.
