A U.S. jury convicted Mitsubishi Corporation on February 12, 2001 of aiding and abetting an international graphite-electrodes price-fixing conspiracy that ran from at least March 1992 through June 1997. On May 10, 2001, the federal court imposed a $134 million fine. DOJ said Mitsubishi assisted cartel meetings and communications and sold electrodes at prices it knew had been fixed.
