Nissan settled SEC anti-fraud charges over concealed executive compensation
On September 23, 2019, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. agreed to pay a $15 million civil penalty and cease and desist from anti-fraud violations. The SEC alleged and found that from 2009 through 2018 Nissan and senior personnel concealed more than $90 million in compensation that was to be paid to former chief executive Carlos Ghosn. Nissan settled without admitting or denying the SEC's allegations and findings, so this record does not characterize the settlement as a criminal conviction.
