Redfin Corporation

In September 2025, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission sued Redfin Corporation and Zillow over an agreement the regulator alleges unlawfully eliminated Redfin as a competitor in multifamily rental advertising. The FTC alleges that in February 2025 Zillow agreed to pay Redfin $100 million and other compensation while Redfin agreed to terminate customer contracts, stop competing in multifamily rental advertising for up to nine years and become an exclusive syndicator of Zillow listings. The FTC also stated that Redfin fired hundreds of employees in connection with the arrangement and then assisted Zillow in hiring selected former Redfin workers. The case remains pending, so these are regulatory allegations rather than final judicial findings.
