Solvay SA Rotten Score Breakdown

In 2006, Belgian chemical company Solvay SA agreed to plead guilty in the United States and pay a $40.8 million criminal fine for participating in international price-fixing conspiracies involving hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborates. The U.S. Department of Justice said the hydrogen peroxide conspiracy ran from July 1998 through December 2001 and involved agreements with competitors to fix prices, coordinate price announcements and exchange sales information. Solvay was also charged over a conspiracy to fix sodium perborate prices sold to Procter & Gamble. The DOJ case records a criminal horizontal price-fixing prosecution and plea agreement.
