On September 9, 1999, Takeda Chemical Industries Ltd., predecessor of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, agreed to plead guilty and pay a $72 million criminal fine for fixing prices and allocating sales of vitamins B2 and C. DOJ said Takeda's cartel participation began in early 1991 and ended in late 1995. The announcement states that sentencing and acceptance of the plea agreement remained for the court.
