SunTrust paid $320 million over HAMP mortgage-relief misconduct
SunTrust Mortgage, now part of Truist, agreed to pay $320 million to resolve a DOJ criminal investigation into its administration of the Home Affordable Modification Program. DOJ said SunTrust misled mortgage-servicing customers seeking HAMP relief, made material misrepresentations and omissions, and failed to process applications promptly, causing serious harm to thousands of homeowners.
