L3 Technologies Paid $21.8 Million Over Alleged Double-Charging on Defense Contracts

In April 2023, L3 Technologies, part of L3Harris Technologies, agreed to pay $21.8 million to resolve U.S. Department of Justice allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by double-charging the Department of Defense for certain material costs. According to DOJ, from approximately 2008 through 2011 L3 submitted dozens of contract proposals for military communications equipment that included the cost of certain parts twice. The government alleged that the duplicated material costs were then incorporated into contract prices paid by the Department of Defense. The settlement resolved civil allegations and did not constitute a determination of liability.
