In November 2022, Victoria's gambling regulator imposed fines totalling A$120 million on Crown Melbourne for serious failures involving responsible gambling. The regulator said Crown had breached its Responsible Service of Gambling obligations over many years, including failing to intervene when customers displayed signs of gambling harm and allowing customers to gamble for extremely long periods, sometimes exceeding 24 hours without a break. In July 2023, the Federal Court ordered Crown Melbourne and Crown Perth to pay A$450 million for breaches of Australia's anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing laws.
