The Slovak Antimonopoly Office found that Slovak Telekom abused its dominant position through a margin-squeeze strategy and tying practices in fixed telecommunications services. The authority found that wholesale and retail pricing prevented alternative operators from replicating Slovak Telekom's retail products and that bundled conditions created barriers to entry and restricted competition. A fine of EUR 17,453,362.54 was imposed. On 9 June 2021 the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic rejected Slovak Telekom's cassation complaint; no further appeal was available. The European Commission found that Slovak Telekom abused its dominant position on the Slovak broadband market by refusing effective access to its local loop and applying a margin squeeze that hindered competing broadband providers. The Commission imposed a joint and several fine on Slovak Telekom and Deutsche Telekom. After partial adjustment by the General Court, the Court of Justice dismissed Slovak Telekom's appeal on 25 March 2021, leaving the infringement finding in place.
