Italian privacy regulator fined TIM €9.5 million over telemarketing and consent violations in 2026
On 31 July 2026, Italy's data-protection authority announced a €9.516 million fine against TIM for privacy and telemarketing violations. The authority cited unlawfully obtained consents, inadequate oversight of unauthorized call centres, and obstacles to users exercising data rights. Italian privacy regulator fined TIM €27.8 million for unlawful marketing data processing
In January 2020, Italy's data-protection authority announced a €27,802,946 fine against TIM S.p.A. for numerous unlawful data-processing practices connected with marketing. The regulator said the violations affected several million people and included unsolicited contacts, invalid consent handling, excessive retention and inadequate security and accountability controls. Italian regulator fined Telecom Italia €4.8 million for misleading fibre-optic advertising
On 28 February 2018, AGCM imposed total fines of €4.8 million on Telecom Italia S.p.A. for an unfair commercial practice involving advertising of fibre-optic connectivity. The authority found that the advertising did not adequately explain material limitations and the different network technologies used to provide the promoted service.
