Daiichi Sankyo predecessor agreed to plead guilty to vitamin B5 price fixing
On September 9, 1999, Daiichi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a predecessor that later combined with Sankyo to form Daiichi Sankyo, agreed to plead guilty and pay a $25 million criminal fine for fixing prices and allocating sales of vitamin B5. DOJ said the collusion ran from early 1991 into February 1999. The announcement states that sentencing and court acceptance of the plea agreement were still required. Daiichi Sankyo U.S. subsidiary paid $39 million to settle physician-kickback allegations
On January 9, 2015, Daiichi Sankyo, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited, agreed to pay $39 million to resolve False Claims Act allegations that speaker fees, meals and honoraria were used as kickbacks to induce prescribing. DOJ described programs running from January 2004 through March 2011. DOJ expressly states that the claims were allegations only and there was no determination of liability.
